Punjab’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has registered a strong performance in the civic body elections, securing victory in a majority of wards across the state and reinforcing public confidence in the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
According to the results declared so far, AAP has won 862 wards out of the 1,765 counted, significantly ahead of other political parties. The Congress secured the second position, while Independent candidates also recorded a notable presence in several local bodies. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) trailed behind in the overall tally.
The elections, held across 1,977 wards on May 26, are being viewed as an important political indicator ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections scheduled in 2027. The results are being seen as a reflection of public support for the AAP government’s governance model, welfare initiatives, and development-focused agenda.
In Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s home constituency of Dhuri, AAP delivered an impressive performance by winning 20 out of 21 seats, further strengthening the party’s position in the region.
Party leaders and workers celebrated the outcome, describing it as a mandate in favour of transparency, grassroots development, and people-centric governance. The leadership thanked the people of Punjab for their continued trust and support.
AAP leaders stated that the results would further motivate the government to work with greater commitment towards strengthening civic infrastructure, improving public services, and ensuring inclusive development across the state.
