Amritsar: In a major breakthrough under the ongoing anti-drug campaign “Yudh Nashian Virudh”, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has successfully dismantled a cross-border drug and arms smuggling network, dealing a significant blow to illegal trafficking operations.
According to official sources, three accused individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. The operation led to the recovery of approximately 915 grams of ICE (Methamphetamine), a highly potent synthetic drug, along with five sophisticated pistols from the possession of the accused.
The seizure highlights the growing nexus between drug trafficking and illegal arms smuggling, which poses a serious threat to public safety and national security. Police officials stated that the operation was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs and reflects the department’s commitment to curbing the drug menace in the region.
This action is part of the Punjab Government’s intensified crackdown against narcotics under the “War Against Drugs” initiative. Authorities have reiterated their zero-tolerance policy and emphasized that strict action will continue against those involved in such illegal activities.
Further investigation is underway to trace backward and forward linkages of the network, including possible cross-border connections and additional accomplices.
The Punjab Police has urged citizens to cooperate and report any suspicious activities, reinforcing that community participation is key to making the state drug-free.
