Severe Heatwave Grips Punjab, Temperatures Cross 42°C, IMD Issues Alert

Punjab is witnessing an intense heatwave as temperatures continue to rise sharply across the state. Several districts have recorded temperatures crossing 42 degrees Celsius, making it difficult for residents to cope with the extreme weather conditions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert, warning people to take necessary precautions.

According to weather officials, dry winds and clear skies are contributing to the rising temperatures. Experts have advised people to avoid stepping out during peak afternoon hours, especially between 12 PM and 4 PM, when the heat is at its highest.

Health experts are also urging citizens to stay hydrated and consume light, nutritious food. Special care is being advised for children, elderly people, and those with existing health conditions, as they are more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses such as dehydration and heatstroke.

Authorities have also asked local administrations to remain prepared for emergencies and ensure the availability of drinking water and medical facilities. The heatwave conditions are expected to continue for the next few days, with little immediate relief in sight.

Residents are advised to stay indoors as much as possible, wear light clothing, and follow official advisories to stay safe during the ongoing heatwave.
